Hardcover, 351 pages, color frontis with tissue. This is the first book in Montgomery's own favorite set of semi-autobiographical novels about a cute orphan, Emily Starr. Has 1923 on c. page and MCMXXIII on title page. Interior is bright and clean, a few smudged or foxed fingerprints scattered here and there, but really nice inside. Previous owner name with "From Santa, 1923" on front free endpaper. Top edge looks a bit dusty/soiled and several pages near back have light edgewear at bottom. Blue cloth covers have color paste-on on front cover (same image as frontis) is clean and bright, just a hint of rubbing, tips lightly rubbed. The moon image on this editon shows waning moon rather than new (cresent), and has Emily's imaginary "Wind Woman" accompanying her on her walk. Gold type on spine is quite dulled, bottom edge of back cover has very small snag, there's a 2x3" area of white spattering at top of back cover, and spine ends are a bit folded over, especially at top. Interior is almost NF, cover is VG to VG- depending on evaluation of white on back.
