Hardcover with dust jacket, 568 pages. The problems New York City's schools go back many generations, and are dissected in this book at the beginning of the '70s. Author examines the personal and formal realtionships within the sytem that are formed to encourage quality education; focuses on one of the city's experimental community-controlled schools which was thought to endanger the teachers' union; and explores the disruptions and "underground" activity of students in junior and senior high. This is a clean copy with no owner markings. The white DJ has wear and a few small chps to edges and the spine has browned a bit. Overall VG+/VG- condition.
