Turner, Lorenzo Dow Anti-Slavery Sentiment in American Literature Prior to 1865 Washington, D. C. The Association for the Study of Negro Life and History, Inc. 1929 First Edition Hardcover Very Good- Hardcover, 188 pages. This book was Turner's dissertation when he attended the University of Chicago full time, having received a Smiley Scholarship. He then devoted the major portion of his life to the research and documentation of the survivals and retentions of West African languages and culture in the descendants of African ex-slaves of the Western Hemisphere. The text pages are clean with no highlighting or markings; however this is an x-library copy, and page 23-24 came loose (now carefully re-glued in place) and is ragged at fore edge. Usual library markings including spine label and sticker on back covers, card pocket, etc. Maroon cloth covers are generally clean, but frayed at spine ends and bumped/frayed at tips. Interior is overall VG; covers Good only. Price:
