1 The Doctor The Doctor: A Weekly Journal of Medicine and Health (No. 29, April 19)
London S. Kay 1837 Paperback Very Good
This issue is eight pages in length, and page numbers allow for future binding into a single publication. Printed on rag paper, so it is NOT brittle. Since the masthead says it was available "in bookstores" we can assume it was published for the general pubic, as well as for physicians. No. 29 has a front-page article on polypus of the nose, including a rather brutal removal technique; an article on the rearing and management of children (focusing on whooping cough); volcanos; antiquity of the arch; inflammation of the bowels; Indian rubber; history of alchemy (continued from a previous journal); Dr. Beaumont’s experiments on digestion; origins of various remedies (a continuation); and letters to the doctor and a list of "The Doctor’s Family Medicines" and locations where they could be purchased on the back page. Scanned photo of front page available on request. Light tanning, thread binding missing, else VG condition.
