Hammett, Dashiell The Glass Key
NY Alfred A. Knopf 1931 Hardcover Very Good in Good dust jacket
Hardcover with facsimile dust jacket, 282 pages, copyright page reads: "April, 1931, first and second printings before publication." Top edge tinted orange. Clean inside, no owner markings, Knopf name on title page (not the later Cassell overprint). Very slight tanned shadow on front free endpaper, attractive bookshop label for Wakefield Bookshop in NYC on inside back cover, slight soiling/aging to fore edge and bottom edge of page block. The covers are bright orange, clean and crisp, light bumping to bottom tips. The back cover has a black spot appx 1/2 in diameter, with a light radiating grey line, which could probably be removed by a good restorer. The rule/key on the front cover and design on the spine are grey-blue and black. Moderate spine slant. The FACSIMILE dust jacket is printed onto a fairly sturdy paper from a dust jacket that had lots of edgewear and flaws. Both panels have a black background with lime green type, a B&W photo from the Paramount movie at the center; the spine is a bit sunned, making the title color a bit lighter than on the front and back panels. A small tear to the flap on the back edge has been taped (shows very little on exterior, but perhaps should be corrected with archival means). Overall this book is a lovely copy in VG or better condition.

NY Alfred A. Knopf 1945 First Thus Hardcover Very Good
Hardcover, 267 pages. Clean inside, no owner markings. Light foxing to inside covers and small paper flaw on front free endpaper. Tan cloth covers have blind embossing of the Black Widow Thrillers logo. Covers are clean a little aged, extremely light speckles on a small area above logo; spine ends and tips a bit rubbed; gold title on spine has dulled significantly. Hinges inside and outside are solid. Overall this is a VG copy. (no dust jacket)
