Hardcover, 268 pages, frontispiece, 7 photographic plates, maps, illustrations. Reprint of the rare 1894 edition, edited and with introduction by Edgar I. Stewart. An account of the courageous life of scout Grouard. Held captive by the Indians for a long period, he recorded the long history of the Sioux nation. This is a very clean copy with no owner markings, one page has a vertical flattened fold from binding. The reddish-tan cloth covers are clean and just have light rubbing at spine ends and tips. Overall a VERY GOOD+ or better copy.
