NY Dodd Mead & Co. 1929 Hardcover Very Good+ in Very Good+ dust jacket Illustrated by Pape, Frank C.
Hardcover with dust jacket and slipcase, 291 pages, "Illustrated Edition" with 12 full-page plates by Pape. Interior clean of any owner markings, endpapers a bit tanned from contact with DJ; fore edge untrimmed and also many pages unopened (and several opened a bit carelessly). Covers are coated black fabric with gold decorations and type; there are a few light markings near the bottom and at outside hinge, else they're clean and bright. The dust jacket has silvery-grey illustrations and type on both front panel and spine (which duplicate the cover art). The edges of the DJ are sharp and unworn, light spots on the front panel are probably from handling long ago. Overall book, conservatively, is Very Good+/Very Good+ condition. The slipcase has rubbing at front edges, particularly near bottom; the paste-on has tanned a bit but has no chips or tears; solid Very Good.

Hardcover with dust jacket and slipcase, 249 pages with 12 B&W plates. Interior clean of any owner markings, endpapers beautifully illustrated; red top edge; fore edge untrimmed and also many pages unopened. Covers are coated black fabric with bright gold decorations and type. Very light bumpint to top fore edge. The dust jacket is printed in red ink on heavy weight black paper. The design on the cover and the DJ are identical. The edges of the DJ are generally unworn, however the spine has been weakened from sunning and has split and has many holes and gaps (front panel nice). DJ now in clear mylar protector. Overall the book is Very Good+ or better/Poor. The black slipcase has a large title label on both the front and back panels; it has several dings to edges of open side but remains sturdy. Overall slipcase is Good+ or better.
